I understand that, but I feel there has to be some point where a nation's crimes are more than just the government gone awol. Russia has been both the victim and the perpetrator of more tragedies than most countries, and that sort of thing does a number on one's mind. However, that is no excuse for say, the 2 million Prussian and German women raped when the Soviets invaded Germany. By comparison the bombing of Hiroshima had about 100,000 (immediate) deaths, not to mention Stalin had more people killed than Hitler. All this I could forgive if it wasn't for the Russian government's pride in their "contribution" in WWII.
I'm sorry if I come off as preachy or whatever I'm just really passionate about this topic. I'm pretty sure Russia the character doesn't think the same way his government does and regrets the things he's done.
Okay that does make sense (you actually taught me a little history) and the character shouldn't be held responsible for it. And it is appalling that they take pride in it. I actually might look up more stuff like that (I'm a war/history geek)
Sorry. I was trying to be funny by referring to how I sometimes hear my fellow Americans say stuff like "If it weren't for us everyone would be speaking German" and "We should rename french fries 'freedom fries' because the French didn't do shit for us". I failed.
